The Living Learning Community is a combination of new construction, renovation, repair and alteration projects at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The multi-phased project provided the University with a unique concept in education by transforming both physically and operationally a typical dormitory building into an environment for learning, interacting, gathering as well as studying and resting. The concept merges formal classroom interactions such as lecturing into an open, intimate setting to promote learning. Multiple indoor/outdoor spaces were designed to provide flexibility and promote interaction.
